“We are not just modernizing the existing armament potential, we are introducing new complexes. And in this sense, we can confidently say that by this indicator we are number one in the world today,” RIA Novosti reports.

He added that one could foresee how the situation would develop.

“And what was difficult here if the United States announced that they were withdrawing from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty? So, we needed to build our plans on this basis and ensure the unconditional security of the country and Russia,” the president emphasized.

He noted that the same types of weapons that Russia has today will appear in the future with other military powers.

“I always say and now I can repeat that the leading military powers of the world will certainly possess the same weapons that Russia has today, I mean hypersonic weapons. But so far since the 18th year, no one has had this weapon,” Putin added.

“It will appear. But I think that we can pleasantly surprise our partners with the fact that when they have these weapons, with a high degree of probability, we will have a means of combating these weapons,” the head of state said.

He noticed that while no one can shoot down hypersonic missiles.

“The speeds are such that it is impossible to take them. This is the uniqueness of our current situation. I repeat once again: with a high degree of probability we will have a means of combating hypersonic weapons by the time that the leading countries of the world have this very hypersonic weapon,” Putin said.

He added that after the collapse of the USSR, vigorous attempts to remake the world for themselves began on the part of those who considered themselves winners in the Cold War.

“They began, in fact, neglecting the prevailing norms of international law, to redraw the world. We really did a lot. And in the development of the nuclear defense complex, we maintain approximate parity with the United States both in terms of carriers and the number of warheads, but nevertheless, we are certainly leaders in our promising developments,” the Russian president said.

Earlier it was reported that Putin in an interview announces a new Russian weapon – counter-hypersonic.

Recall, US President Donald Trump announced plans to develop a “super-duper missile” – a hypersonic weapon that can reach speeds 17 times faster than all existing counterparts in the United States.

The newspaper VZGLYAD wrote in detail about the problems of the American hyperweapon, and earlier it told how Russia went around America in the race for hypersonic.

We add that in early June, the president approved the foundations of a state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence, which also includes threats to Russia: among them, including the deployment of hypersonic weapons by the enemy.

Also in an interview, Putin said that the world would be more dangerous if Russia did not occupy a worthy position in it, and called stability the priority of the presidential power.
