According to the them, the combat vehicle was seized at the airport of the Libyan capital Tripoli, which had previously completely come under the control of the GNA troops, as we reported yesterday.

The fact that the PNS forces established full control over the administrative borders of Tripoli became known earlier on June 4. It was noted that the remnants of the Haftar army and the mercenaries supporting it were driven back from the capital and continued to retreat.

Prior to this, the GNA representative, Colonel Muhammad Kanunu, revealed the details of the plan to clean the area at Tripoli International Airport from the LNA. He said that government forces were ordered to move forward and “track down the remnants of the Haftarovites.”

The control of Tripoli

Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) forces have announced the restoration of full control over the administrative borders of Tripoli.

Control was returned after government troops drove off the remnants of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and his mercenaries from the capital region. It is noted that the LNA fighters continue to retreat. Reuters writes that Haftar’s plan to capture Tripoli ultimately failed.

Earlier, the representative of the GNA, Mustafa al-Majai, said that the “mercenaries of Khalifa Haftar” can no longer shell Tripoli and the suburbs of the city. Field Marshal’s forces have already been thrown back from the international airport and other areas south of the capital.

Libyan civil war

In Libya, armed clashes are currently taking place between supporters of different leaders. The country is led by the Government of National Accord (GNA), headed by Prime Minister Fayez Saraj, the “eastern government” led by Abdullah Abdurrahaman at-Thani.

The eastern government is supported by the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar.

Recall that January 13 in Moscow, negotiations were held between the heads of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalif Haftar and the Government of National Accord (GNA) Faiz Sarraj. Also present were members of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Turkey.

On the meeting the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has notified Russia about the conditions for continuing negotiations on the signing of a peace agreement in Libya.

According to the requirements of Haftar, the militias operating in Libya are required to surrender weapons in the period from 45 to 90 days. This process should be controlled by a special commission created by the LNA together with the UN

Haftar also refused to recognize Turkey as an intermediary in resolving the situation in Libya, since the Turkish side is not neutral and supports the Government of National Accord (GNA).
