According to CNN, military personnel stationed at a base in Fort Bragg (North Carolina) are being transferred to Washington. Arrival of the detachment in the US capital will take place in a few hours. The military has been tasked with providing security in the city, but not helping the police in detaining protesters or riots.

As USA Today reported on Monday, US Secretary of Justice and Attorney General William Barr ordered that special police units be sent to Washington to suppress the riots. Units are managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. According to the newspaper’s source, the Federal Bureau of Investigation also ordered Washington’s elite rescue unit to assist in law enforcement in Washington.

Prior to this, the mayor imposed a curfew from 23:00 Sunday to 06:00 Monday in connection with the riots caused by the situation around the death in Minneapolis of an African American George Floyd.
