According to the publication, the information that could have been stolen includes data on communication equipment, as well as drawings and plans of Japanese military facilities, including the Yokosuka naval base. It is noted that at present the Ministry of Defense of the country, together with NTT Comunication, is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

In total, attackers gained unauthorized access to more than 100 files. At the same time, it is emphasized that the stolen documents did not carry the status of “secret”, however, the communication channels between the Ministry of Defense and the country’s Self-Defense Forces may be in jeopardy.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense is also conducting an investigation into a possible leak of missile development data after a hacker attack on Japanese electronics manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric. It was previously reported that attackers could gain access to the operational characteristics of hypersonic missiles, which the Japanese Ministry of Defense sent to several companies in order to further create a prototype.
