Turkey is ready to storm Mizdah and began to threaten the Russian military
TRIPOLI, (BM) – Inspired by the attack on Al-Vatiya airbase, where two Pantsir-S air defense missile systems were destroyed, and one of them was captured by GNA forces, Turkey announced that it was launching an assault on the city of Mizdah, while threatening to defeat Russian military mercenaries, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Turkish news agency Yeni Safak.
“The result achieved by the Libyan army on the battlefield forces us to join the Government of national unity and those who previously held a position on the side of Haftar. After the tribes of the city of Esabia, located on the Tripoli-Tarhuna route, reported that they now support the Government of National Unity, the city of Mizdah, southwest of Tripoli, also expressed support for the Libyan government. A joint written statement signed by the local council of Mizda and leading representatives of the urban community expresses “support for the legitimate government led by Faiz al-Sarraj and the operation” Volcano of Wrath “carried out by the Libyan army against the militants of Haftar.” the authour od the article said.
A statement pointing to Haftar also states that “the city of Mizdah will be together with Tripoli until the clean lands of Libya are cleared of this harmful plant.”
The city of Mizdah is one of the important points on the line of arms and ammunition supply to the city of Tarhuna, which Haftar’s militants use as a center for coordinating operations and supplies during attacks on the capital, the Turkish publication Yeni Safak reports.
It should be clarified that a few hours earlier the Turkish media published video frames on which the emergency evacuation of the Russian military from Libya was allegedly captured, however, as it turned out, the video frames were made a few years ago, moreover, they captured a plane belonging to the forces of the Government of National Unity.
Nevertheless, the mass of threats directed against Russia against the background of the appearance in Libya of MiG-29 fighters, which, according to Turkey, are Russian airborne forces, raises questions as to whether Ankara will go into an open military conflict with Russia.
Libyan civil war
In Libya, armed clashes are currently taking place between supporters of different leaders. The country is led by the Government of National Accord (GNA), headed by Prime Minister Fayez Saraj, the “eastern government” led by Abdullah Abdurrahaman at-Thani.
The eastern government is supported by the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar.
Recall that January 13 in Moscow, negotiations were held between the heads of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalif Haftar and the Government of National Accord (GNA) Faiz Sarraj. Also present were members of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Turkey.
On the meeting the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has notified Russia about the conditions for continuing negotiations on the signing of a peace agreement in Libya.
According to the requirements of Haftar, the militias operating in Libya are required to surrender weapons in the period from 45 to 90 days. This process should be controlled by a special commission created by the LNA together with the UN
Haftar also refused to recognize Turkey as an intermediary in resolving the situation in Libya, since the Turkish side is not neutral and supports the Government of National Accord (GNA).
