Turkish F-16 has intercepted a Russian long-range bomber over the Black Sea

ANKARA, (BM) – According to Turkish media, before two days ago, during the flight of Russian long-range Tu-22M3 bombers over the Black Sea it has been intercepted by Turkish F-16 fighters, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing several Balkans media.

In addition to Turkish fighters, the MiG-29 of the Bulgarian Air Force and the MiG-21 of the Romanian Air Force were also sent to intercept Russian bombers.

The interception of Russian long-range bombers by Turkish combat aircraft raised many questions, since more recently Turkey called itself the most important partner of Russia, however, it decided to take such a step, although it was an exclusively training flight of Russian Tu-22M3.

It was possible to avoid any dangerous incidents and clashes in the air, however, such actions by the Turkish military raise many questions, especially against the background of a rather large number of disagreements between Moscow and Ankara on the territory of states such as Syria and Libya.

The Russian side has not yet commented on the interception of Russian bombers by NATO aircraft.
