A rocket fire in the Baghdad’s ‘green zone’ – Iranian source
BAGHDAD, (BM) – The green zone in downtown Baghdad has undergone rocket fire, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Iranian television channel Al Sumaria on May 19 and according anonymous sources.
According to the channel, two missiles were fired at this area of Baghdad. The start-up was noticed by surveillance systems and the air-raid systems worked.
Missiles did not reach the block itself and fell nearby. “One of the missiles hit the roof of the building, there are no victims and injured,” the television channel quoted Iraqi security officials as saying. Currently, searches are underway for the launch of rockets.
Recall, the “green zone” is the area in the center of the Iraqi capital where government buildings and objects of diplomatic missions of other countries, including the US embassy, are located.
Recently, this part of Baghdad has been repeatedly subjected to rocket fire. On January 26, three out of five fired missiles fell at the US Embassy. Washington has repeatedly blamed the pro-Iranian armed forces for shelling.
