This is the so-called first phase (Phase 1): it will last 18 months and lay the foundation for future AI tests involving manned and unmanned platforms. In the future, it is planned to carry out the second and third stages, within which the concept will be worked out more carefully.

As a result, the US military wants to get artificial intelligence, which will allow fighters to conduct maneuverable air battles more effectively.

It is worth noting that today there is heated debate regarding the future of combat aircraft: someone says that it will be completely unmanned, while others believe that replacing the pilot in the cockpit will not work soon, if at all.
