Russian Su-35 fighter gave China an advantage over the US Air Force
BEIJING, (BM) – The Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China has an advantage over the US Air Force due to the operation of the Russian Su-35 generation 4 ++ along with the Chinese fifth-generation aircraft Chengdu J-20, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Military Watch magazine.
According to the author of the article, one of the reasons why the Chinese army continues to operate Russian fighters is that the Chinese military did not believe in the potential of the J-20, which was adopted in 2017. In addition, the Su-35 turned out to be cheaper in operation, has a higher payload in terms of armament and super maneuverability due to engines with a controlled thrust vector.
A variety of weapons can be used on the Su-35, including air-to-air missiles and cruise missiles. The joint operation of Russian 4 ++ generation fighters and new Chinese aircraft makes the PLA air fleet more versatile than the U.S. Air Force, which has recently faced various restrictions due to the operation of fifth-generation stealth aircraft.
The fact that China can acquire technology from two of the world’s three leading manufacturers of combat aircraft provides him with an advantage, the newspaper writes.
According to the author, until 2019, the U.S. Air Force replenished its formations exclusively with fifth-generation aircraft. Their operation and maintenance turned out to be very expensive and complicated, so the US military decided to follow the path of China and resumed purchases of fourth-generation and 4 ++ fighters.
