The US defense budget in 2019 was 11 times higher than the Russian

STOCKHOLM, (BM) – Military spending in the US in 2019 increased by 5.3% to $ 732 billion, according to a report by the Stockholm Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

According to the report in 2019, military spending of all countries of the world amounted to $ 1.92 trillion, which is 3.6% more than a year earlier.

The first place in terms of military spending is occupied by the United States of America. Over the year, the United States began to spend 5.3% more on defense needs. Their share in world military spending is 38.13%.

In second place after the United States, China is almost three times behind. His military spending amounted to $ 261 billion, showing an increase over the year of 5.1%. China’s share of global spending was 13.59%.

India took the third place in 2019 with an expenditure of $ 71 billion. It showed the fastest growth since 2018 in the top three – 6.8%. India’s share of world military spending was 3.7%.

Russia took fourth place, military spending in the country amounted to $ 65.1 billion, and growth over the year – 4.5%. The Russian share in global spending is 3.39%.

Saudi Arabia closed the top five, which is the only TOP-5 to reduce its spending over the year by 16%. In 2019, it spent $ 61.9 billion on defense, which amounted to 3.22% of the world.

In addition, Ukraine in 2019 again increased the growth of defense spending: compared with 2018, they grew by 9.3% and amounted to $ 5.2 billion.
