Information about the injured and the destruction is not given.
Note that the province of Al-Jawf is located in the north of Yemen and has a common border with Saudi Arabia. Earlier, the Hussites conducted a successful offensive operation, as a result of which they managed to seize the strategically important city – the capital of the province of Al-Hazm.
The conflict between Saudi Arabia – Yemen Hussites
In 2014, the Hussites, Shiite-born northern Yemen, carried out a coup and seized power in the northern provinces of the country, including the capital, the city of Sana’a. In turn, the internationally recognized government and President Mansour Hadi moved their residences to the city of Aden, located on the southern coast of Yemen.
In connection with the further military successes of the Hussites and their active promotion to the south of the country, in 2015, Saudi Arabia led the coalition of Arab countries and launched the ground-based military operation “Tempest of Determination” in support of the official government.
The reason for such great concern for Saudi Arabia was the threat that the Hussites would reach the coast of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the most important sea transport corridor through which Saudi oil tankers pass.
This happened also because Hussites are protected by Iran – an enemy of the Sunni countries of the Islamic world and, above all, Saudi Arabia.
In addition, it is worth noting that other forces are taking part in the Yemeni conflict. Among the largest forces is the UAE-supported Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is in an ambiguous relationship with official Yemen and is committed to the independence of southern Yemen.
Also in Yemen, there is a large terrorist organization, al-Qaida on the Arabian Peninsula, which controls large areas of central Yemen.
