The first batch of the latest T-90M tanks came into service at the Russian Army
MOSCOW, (BM) – The first batch of modernized T-90M tanks came into service at the Russian Armed Forces, learned BulgarianMilitary.com according Western Military District statement.
The commander of the army, Lieutenant General Sergey Kisel, said that “the first deliveries of the modernized T-90M tanks to the guards tank army of the Western Military District, deployed in five regions of Russia, began in April”.
He clarified that several T-90M came into service in the Taman mechanized infantry division, also part of the army.
According to the commander, the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District completed its command training, fire exercices and managing in combat conditions of the new tanks. “In the tank army there are several dozen varieties of simulators: for training crews of the T-80, T-72B3, T-90 tanks,” Kisel explained.
Combat firing from new tanks is planned to be carried out during the control check for the winter training period.
Recall that in February the newest T-90M tank completed state tests.
Tank T-90M received a fundamentally new tower, different from the serial, and a more powerful engine. The vehicle is equipped with a new multi-channel sight, which provides the use of weapons at any time.
In addition, the ability to exchange data in real time with other vehicles has become one of the main features of the upgraded tank. The T-90M armor is equipped with a special coating that protects against slipping, similar to that used on the latest T-14 Armata.
The Russian T-90 tank is one of the best selling Russian military products and India is the major buyer.
BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that last year the Indian government has decided to buy an additional number of Russian T-90 tanks, and Russia will extend the duration of the relevant license accordingly.
According to the British edition Jane’s, India will buy approximately 460 T-90MC tanks from Russia, quoting an anonymous source.
Also, just a few weeks ago, India decided to buy another 400 Russian T-90S tanks, which are produced in the country under license
