The coronavirus may be recognized as a biological weapon, Iran said
TEHRAN, (BM) – Iran is exploring the possibility that coronavirus may be a biological weapon in its origin. This was announced on April 12 by the head of the health department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the country, Hassan Araghizadeh, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
“Each country is studying this issue. Iranian research centers are also conducting research on this issue. But for a definite conclusion, more time and effort is needed,” the official said in an interview with Mehr.
According to him, the Iranian armed forces have enough capabilities to identify any biological threat and take measures against a likely act of bioterrorism.
Earlier in the UK it was not ruled out that the coronavirus could appear due to a leak in the laboratories of the Institute of Virology in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
Biosafety expert Professor Richard Ebright suggested that viruses were studied in the laboratories of the PRC Research Institute in violation of safety regulations. He said that Chinese scientists have underestimated the class of protection in the study of the virus, wrote NEWS.ru.
According to the latest data, more than 1.78 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the world, more than 108.8 thousand have died, 405.9 thousand have recovered.
