‘Sleeping cells’ collect money for their terrorist activities, Russia said
MOSCOW, (BM) – There are international terrorist organizations in Russia, conspiracy “sleeping cells” that collect money for their activities. This was announced by Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev during a video conference with the heads of the regions of the Ural Federal District (Ural Federal District), learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
According to him, the attempts to transfer to Russia people who have gained combat experience as part of gangs in Syria and Iraq do not stop.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, last year, there was an increase in crime throughout the country related to the inducing, recruiting, financing and propaganda of terrorism, Mr. Patrushev noted.
According to him, the recruitment activities carried out by international terrorist organizations are carried out mainly on the Internet. Last year, the distribution of such materials to 135 thousand sites was suppressed, which is almost twice as much as in 2018.
Young people are most influenced, Nikolay Patrushev noted. “A new information policy is needed aimed at a youth audience,” he said. “I note that such work is underway, including the creation of a coordination center for organizing and distributing content on the Internet aimed at spiritual and moral education of youth.”
The Security Council Secretary said that only in the Urals Federal District in 2019 it was possible to prevent five terrorist attacks, stop the activities of six terrorist cells, detain more than 50 people related to terrorism, and identify five Islamist groups of the Salafi orientation.
“Last week in the Surgut region of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, a terrorist attack prepared by local residents – members of the international terrorist organization“ Emirate of the Caucasus ”, was prevented,” Nikolai Patrushev said. “As you can see, the situation is not simple.”
