Such combat vehicles are produced by most of the advanced countries of the world. In addition to powerful armor, guns and patency, such an indicator as speed is important. Today we will talk about the fastest tanks in the world.

#5 – Ukrainian BM Oplot tank

Our list opens the main battle tank of Ukraine BM Oplot. It is built according to the classic layout with a control compartment located in the frontal part.

In the middle is the fighting compartment, and in the aft part there is a motor-transmission compartment. The tank is armed with a 125 mm smoothbore gun with 48 caliber. The designers installed on Oplot a six-cylinder diesel engine with a volume of 16.3 liters and a capacity of 1200 horsepower. Thanks to him, a combat vehicle can accelerate to 70 kilometers per hour on the highway and 40-45 km / h on rough terrain.

The main battle tank manufactured in South Korea is considered a new generation combat vehicle. “Black Panther” was created using exclusively South Korean technology.

The tank is armed with a 120-mm smooth-bore cannon having a length of 6.6 meters, paired with a 7.62-mm cannon and a 12.7-mm anti-aircraft machine gun mounted on the roof of the tower. The power plant includes a diesel engine with a capacity of 1,500 horsepower. Also, the combat vehicle is equipped with a gas turbine installation with a capacity of 400 horsepower, which ensures the functioning of the generator and power supply of electrical equipment, in case of failure of the main engine. The tank can accelerate along the highway to 70 kilometers per hour, and 50 km / h on the road.

The deeply modernized version of the Leopard 2A6 tank was first shown to the general public in 2010. The designers adapted the combat vehicle to perform both ordinary combat missions and actions in urban environments.

The leopard 2A7 + is equipped with a 120 mm 55-caliber smoothbore gun. The German tank is made according to the traditional scheme. In the power compartment of the combat vehicle is a V-shaped liquid-cooled turbo-charged diesel engine. Its power is 1,500 horsepower. The maximum speed is 72 km / h on the highway and 45 km / h on the road.
