About 600 French soldiers are infected with COVID-19

PARIS, (BM) – About 600 French troops contracted a new type of coronavirus, learned BulgarianMilitary.com according French Defense Minister Florence Parley statement.

On Friday, the head of the General Directorate of Health of France, Jerome Salomon, said that the number of deaths from coronavirus in the republic exceeded 6.5 thousand people, the total number of people infected with coronavirus in the country reached 64,338.

About 600 of our military were infected with COVID-19. It is on a scale, because it is changing. We are closely monitoring the situation and adjusting combat formations accordingly. I want to clarify that our combat readiness has not been affected,” the Minister said.

Parley added that earlier, one of the civilian employees of the French Armed Forces, who worked in the defense infrastructure construction service, died of coronavirus.

Also, four servicemen who took part in Operation Dune in the Sahel became infected with the coronavirus.

The World Health Organization on March 11 announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 1 million cases of infection have been recorded in the world, more than 50 thousand people have died.
