The Israeli airstrike yesterday in Syria was aimed to an Iranian general
DAMASCUS, (BM) – As we reported early today the Israeli Air Force was launched an air strike on targets near city of Homs. Some local sources said today that the air strike target was a meeting senior Syrian and Iranian officers.
According to sources in the Arab portal Shorouk News, among the participants in the meeting at the Sheyrat airbase, located 38 kilometers southeast of the administrative center of the Homs province, could be the commander of the special forces Kods within the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRG) of Iran brigade General Ismail Kaani.
However, as other Middle Eastern publications have noted, finding the successor to the legendary Iranian military commander Kassem Suleimani, who was killed earlier this year as a result of a US air strike at Baghdad International Airport, may be just fiction.
According to some reports, the day before the next Israeli air operation against Syria, General Kaani was on a working visit to the Iraqi capital.
As reported by BulgarianMilitary.com, the Syrian air defense forces repelled a missile attack by Israeli aircraft in the area of the city of Homs. According to the state news agency of the Arab Republic of SANA, SAR air defense forces fired at air targets and managed to hit several enemy missiles. It was indicated that the Israeli Air Force attacked from Lebanese airspace.
