Saudi air defense intercepted and shot down two missiles over Riyadh

RIYADH, (BM) – The Saudi army shot down two rockets in the sky over Riyadh and another over the port city of Jazan near the border with Yemen, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing news agency Al Arabiya.

Eyewitnesses report that they heard a powerful explosion in the capital of Saudi Arabia. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Information about the injured and the destruction is not given.

Earlier, a series of attacks on the positions of Houthi rebels in Sana’a and the Saudi border provinces of Saudi Arabia and the Juf provinces were carried out by coalitions led by the Saudi Arabia coalition, RIA Novosti reports citing a military source.

In February, an assassination attempt was made in Yemen on the country’s defense minister. The commander’s car was blown up on a mine laid down along its route.

In January, at least 24 soldiers died and 20 were injured in a rocket attack on the barracks of the army of Yemen in the province of Marib in the north-east of the country.

For the fifth year in Yemen, armed confrontation between the Hussites and the troops of Saudi-backed President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi continues. The conflict caused the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.
