It is reported that the base will be located near the border with Syria. Presumably, it is planned to deploy American Patriot air defense systems at a military facility, with which the US can try to protect Ain Assad airbase and other objects in western Iraq from potential missile attacks.

Iraqi Al-Ahad news agency reports that the United States missile defense systems are in a state of readiness for transfer to the border with Syria.

Middle Eastern journalists drew attention to the fact that earlier attacks by US military bases in Iraq were not carried out from Syria. In this regard, experts of the publications suggested that the deployment of American Patriot systems could be directed against Russian aviation in the sky over the Syrian Arab Republic.

This would equalize the forces above the sky in Syria and would greatly assist the Turkish offensive against Assad.
