Three terrorist attacks against Syrian Army positions have been reported

DAMASCUS, (BM) – Over the past day, militants made three shellings of the Syrian armed forces on the territory of the Idlib de-escalation zone, Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties in the SAR, said at a briefing.

“The patrolling of Russian military police units along the routes … in the province of Aleppo … in the province of Haseka,” continued Zhuravlev.

The army also conducted air patrols along the route: Metras airfield – Schweikhan – Ain Isa – Mishraka – Bir-Kantari – Bir-Hamid-El-Ali – Kvires airfield – Metras airfield.

“In accordance with the Russian-Turkish agreements, a ceasefire regime was introduced on the territory of the Idlib de-escalation zone from 0.01 to 6 March. Over the past day, shelling by illegal armed groups controlled by Turkey was not registered” also said the Admiral.

At the same time, three shelling of the settlements of Ajel in Aleppo province, Dadikh of Idlib province, Ikko of Latakia province from the positions of the Jebhat-en-Nusra was recorded.

The special continuous communication channel for operational interaction between the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties and the Turkish side continues to function.

On March 5, the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, entered into an agreement according to which a ceasefire regime entered into force in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad later said that if the US and Turkish military did not leave the country, Damascus would be able to use force.

The reason for the Russian-Turkish summit talks was a sharp aggravation of the situation in Idlib, where in January a large-scale offensive by the Syrian army against the positions of the armed opposition and terrorists began. Government forces recaptured nearly half of the Idlib de-escalation zone and left behind a number of Turkish observation posts.

After that, Ankara sharply increased its military contingent in the region and launched the operation “Spring Shield” to push the Syrian troops. Turkey is also supported by militants loyal to it.
