China has explained why Russian S-400 missile systems are a necessity

The fact is that the range of this Russian air defense system is up to 400 kilometers, which similar ground-to-air missile systems produced in other countries cannot offer. The Russian complex is also capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at a greater range than US complexes.

The publication notes that China has its own Hongqi-9 (HQ-9) air defense systems, but their production is too expensive. Meanwhile, the S-400 is not only cheaper than the Hongqi-9. It is more advanced and practical than the S-300, which also purchased China.

The author of the material does not hide another goal of acquiring foreign air defense systems: they will allow Chinese developers to better explore other people’s technologies and experience. In the future, the acquired knowledge can be useful for the production of their air defense systems.

The advantage of long-range S-400 is also called the ability to destroy enemy AWACS aircraft, which will complicate the enemy as the conduct of hostilities, and espionage from long distances.

That is, the Russian complex will make it possible to cover and control the peripheral areas around China. The Diaoyu Islands are cited as an example.

It is especially noted that if China has an S-400, the U.S. Air Force will be careful not to approach its airspace.
