“We have about 72 thousand military men (in Europe). At the moment we have about 35 reports of (disease) coronavirus,” the general said at a briefing on Friday, without specifying in which country the military fell ill.

Previously, due to the coronavirus pandemic, NATO was forced to reduce the largest in the last 25 years exercises in Europe Defender Europe-20. The United States stopped the transfer of troops and began to return them back.

A number of related exercises have been completely canceled. According to Walters, the Defender Europe-20 exercises were 45% complete, and instead of the estimated 17 thousand, only 5-6 thousand US troops were transferred to Europe.

The most difficult situation in Europe is recorded in Italy, Spain and Germany, where a number of large US military bases are located.

We have reported a day ago that the defense of the United States of America is a very big question, after a journalist became aware that 47 employees of the US Department of Defense were infected with the coronavirus COVID-19.

BulgarianMilitary.com has learned that the work of the US military has been very seriously reduced. A lot of the visits and meetings in Pentagon planned earlier were not only rescheduled, but canceled altogether, which indicates the seriousness of the situation.

Moreover, given the evacuation of the US military from Iraq and neighboring Syria, experts believe that in the near future a similar situation will be observed in other regions of the planet where there is a risk of coronavirus infection, including, we can talk about curtailing the largest US military bases in the Middle East.
