Syrian positions were attacked in the area of the city of Khazarin, located in the province of Idlib.

According to Syrian sources, the militant attack has become the largest since the signing of de-escalation agreements in Idlib.

Syrian government forces managed to repel the terrorist attack, while claiming that the militants did not use Turkish armored vehicles, as this would have resulted in a large-scale response from the Syrian army and the Russian military.

Nevertheless, a number of sources clarify that as a result of the attack on the positions of the SAA, two soldiers were injured, but official Damascus has not yet confirmed such data.

According to Al-Masdar news agency, yesterday the Turkish-backed forces attacked the positions of the Syrian army in the Idlib province “Jihadist rebels attacked the positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in southern Idlib, striking positions in the vicinity of the city of Khazarin. According to a military source located near this front, a group of jihadist rebels attempted to infiltrate the positions of the Syrian army in Khazarin, prompting the troops guarding the area to attack the militants before they could destroy the positions. The source also said that the Syrian army was able to repel the jihadist attack after a short shootout in the Jabal al-Zawiya region in southern Aleppo,” Al-Masdar News reports, citing a second case of terrorist attacks.

It should be clarified that despite the terrorists’ attempt to go on the offensive, the Russian military did not respond to the violation of the Idlib agreements, however, this may be due to intentions to maintain the treaty, especially since Russia allocated Turkey and the militants until the end of March so that to fulfill all the points of the current agreements, after which the Russian military and Syrian troops will obviously go on the offensive.

It should be noted that this is far from the first violation of the ceasefire since the signing of the agreements – more than 50 cases have been recorded in total.

BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that against the backdrop of the refusal of the militants to observe the cease-fire reached between Russia and Turkey, and Turkey’s refusal to exercise control over the withdrawal of terrorist forces, Russia issued an ultimatum to both parties – to ensure that all existing agreements are implemented before the end of the month.

We recall that yesterday in the village of Makhambel in the Syrian province of Idlib, unidentified forces attacked a Turkish convoy and according news agency Lenta.ru Turkish soldiers were killed.

Before two days ago Syrian armed opposition formations, which refused to comply with the ceasefire in Idlib province, put forward additional forces to the front line.

Analysts believe that Islamists are preparing for a counteroffensive. Moreover, threats are increasingly being heard among them against the Russian military police patrolling along the M-4 highway, near the positions of jihadist groups.

Also, on March 7 Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria had reported that militants in the Idlib de-escalation zone violated the ceasefire regime introduced on March 6 19 times a day.
