Tunisia has been in a state of emergency for almost 5 years. In June 2015, a terrorist attack occurred in the local resort of El Kantaoui in the province of Sousse, which claimed the lives of 40 people. The Bardo National Museum in the capital was also attacked. Almost half a year later, a suicide bomber attacked the presidential guard in the capital.
After a series of terrorist attacks in 2015, Tunisian authorities tightened security measures. This allowed, in particular, to restore the flow of foreign tourists to the North African country.
However, to completely eliminate the threat of terrorist attacks in Tunisia failed. Another bombing occurred on June 26 last year, when two suicide bombers attacked police officers. As a result, a police officer was killed and several people were injured.

The first fighter detonated an explosive device near a police car patrol on Charles de Gaulle Street in the city center. The second offender soon afterwards similarly attacked a police station in the Al Karjani area.
These attacks occurred a few months before the presidential and parliamentary elections, at the peak of the tourist season, when the largest number of guests from other countries are expected in Tunisia.
Some Tunisians stood behind the largest terrorist attacks in Europe. In July 2016, Mohamed Laueez Bulel crushed dozens of people on a seafront in Nice with a truck. In December of that year, Anis Amri drove a truck into a crowd at a festive fair in Berlin.
This is not the first time in recent years that American embassies have been attacked.
Since the beginning of the year, US diplomats have survived several attacks in Baghdad.
In late January, a number of media outlets reported shelling of the United States diplomatic mission in Iraq. According to Alsumaria, citing a security source, at least three people were injured in the attack. According to the source, immediately after the incident, people were evacuated from the building. “Strict security measures” were adopted.

The American embassy in Baghdad had previously been attacked in various ways, but this time for the first time when firing rockets fell directly into the territory of the diplomatic mission.
Five rockets were fired on the night of January 26 toward the green zone of the Iraqi capital, a well-fortified area in the city center. State institutions and foreign diplomatic missions are located there. Three shells fell directly on the territory of the embassy, and one of them hit the dining room.
After this attack, the acting Prime Minister of Iraq, Adel Abdel Mahdi, ordered the country’s security forces to find and punish those responsible for the blow to the diplomatic mission. In addition, he called for all measures to prevent a recurrence of attacks on the US embassy in Baghdad.
As noted by the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Mohammed al-Halbusi, rocket attacks on the US diplomatic mission are damaging the reputation and sovereignty of Iraq.
Once again, three missiles fell near the American diplomatic mission on January 20.
As Reuters reported, citing sources in the Iraqi police, shells were fired from the Zafaraniya region on the outskirts of the Iraqi capital. Two of them exploded near the US Embassy. Information about the bombings was confirmed by sources on Al Arabiya.
The US Department of State also reported attacks on US troops and diplomats in Iraq by Iran and the formations it supports. According to the US Foreign Ministry, by the end of January since last September, more than 14 such cases were recorded.
