According to media reports, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem on Sunday received a Libyan delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Abdel Rahman al-Ahirish, working in Tobruk, and Abdelhadi al-Khuweij, Foreign Minister.

“At the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Foreign Ministries of Syria and Libya regarding the resumption of the work of diplomatic missions and coordination of the two countries’ positions in the international and regional arenas,” SANA reports.

The agency also reported that, during the meeting, Muallem confirmed that Damascus pays particular attention to developing relations with Tripoli and opposes Turkey’s ambitions in Libya.
