The Green Zone is the most protected quarter of Baghdad. It houses administrative buildings, including the buildings of foreign embassies.

According to Iraqi sources, the shelling was carried out from the city itself – from one of the neighborhoods in its eastern part. To launch missiles, improvised installations were used, which, according to reports, have already been discovered.

The previous attack on the central part of the Iraqi capital was carried out in late January. Then the target of the shelling was the American embassy. Three people were injured. The United States blamed the bombardment on representatives of pro-Iranian organizations, including the Shiite militia Al-Hashd al-Shaabi.

During the shelling, which took place on the night of March 2, there were no casualties. At least, this is how Iraqi information sources write at this moment.
