Syrian air defense forces repelled another missile attack on Damascus
DAMASCUS, (BM) – Syrian air defense forces repel another missile attack on Damascus. This was announced on Monday by the Syrian agency SANA, noting that explosions were heard in the sky above the capital, learned BugarianMilitary.com.
Most missiles were shot down before they reached their targets. According to the agency, the shelling was carried out by the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, writes TASS.
At the same time, the representative of the Israeli Defense Forces Avihai Adrey in his Twitter said that the country’s armed forces launched a series of attacks on terrorist targets belonging to the radical Palestinian Islamic Jihad group (banned in the Russian Federation) in southern Damascus.
Recall that earlier Damascus was subjected to a missile attack on the night of February 14. The attacks were carried out by airplanes that entered from the territory of the Golan Heights in the south-west of the country.
BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that Damascus was previously attacked on February 6th. Then four Israeli F-16 air force fighters, without entering the airspace of Syria, fired eight air-to-ground missiles. Anti-aircraft missile defense systems repelled the attack.
On February 19 also, Syrian air defense repelled an attack near the town of Jebla, located on the Mediterranean coast. The news was reported also by Syrian state television.
“Air defense systems reflect an attack by hostile targets in the vicinity of the city of Jebl,” the report said.
Jeble is located near the port of Latakia and the base of the Russian Air Force in Khmeimim.
