Russian fighter jet stopped Turkish military convoy in Syria
DAMASCUS, (BM) – Combat aircraft of the Russian military space forces stopped the Turkish military convoy and prevented it from entering the settlement of Al-Bara in the Syrian province of Idlib, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Lenta.ru and Telegram channel “Military Explorer.”
Turkish forces were forced to leave the area for their own safety due to air strikes at militant facilities. The Syrian Armed Forces command also earlier stated that their planes will be shot down by any aircraft that violate the country’s airspace.
Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stressed that Turkey has not yet fulfilled the terms of the agreement on Syria, which was concluded in Sochi more than a year ago. Peskov emphasized that it was Turkey that should ensure the breeding, demarcation and withdrawal of heavy weapons. Prior to this statement, Turkish President Recep Erdogan also accused Russia of not fulfilling the Sochi accords.
