Turkey hit 21 targets in Syria in response to the death of its soldier

DAMASCUS, (BM) – Turkish armed forces shelled 21 targets in Syrian Idlib in response to the death of a Turkish soldier as a result of tank shelling of Turkish military positions, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Turkish Anadolu agency on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the targets were hit in response to tank shelling of Turkish positions in northwestern Syria. One Turkish soldier was seriously injured in a Syrian bombardment and died on the way to the hospital.

Recently, the situation in Idlib has escalated. Turkey accuses Syria of shelling and the death of its military, and also strikes back. The Russian military reports that Turkey supports the militants, and the Syrian army responds to their attacks.

On February 20, Turkish troops and opposition forces launched a military operation against the Syrian army, it was suspended after the Russian military appealed to prevent incidents.
