This was announced by the head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties (CPVS) in Syria, Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, reports TASS.

According to him, since January, a total of 13 military convoys with more than 80 units of armored vehicles, 300 trucks with ammunition and other weapons have arrived from Iraq to Syria. “The command of American troops in the region is intensively saturating the territory of the Zaevfraty with weapons,” the CPVS specified.

Thus, the situation is complicated in the north-east of Syria, including in the territories controlled by the global coalition of 68 countries, led by Washington, to combat the “Islamic state” (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), Zhuravlev noted.

In addition, due to the unfavorable humanitarian situation and the “constant bombardment by militants of cities in the north-east of the country,” peaceful Syrians “are massively leaving their areas and moving into the territory controlled by the current Syrian government.”

As an example, the representative of the Ministry of Defense cited statistics: according to him, about 23 thousand have passed through the Es Salihiya checkpoint located in the northeastern Deir ez-Zor province (here is one of the American bases) since the beginning of the year. Syrians, mostly children and the elderly.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the troops of the regime of the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and the Russian military operating with them in attacking civilians and shelling the Turkish military.

This statement was made after five military personnel were killed during shelling of the Turkish post in the Syrian province of Idlib. Erdogan refuted the words of the Russian Defense Ministry, saying that the reason for the escalation of the conflict in Idlib was Ankara’s failure to fulfill its promises. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said that Turkey is not fulfilling its part of the Sochi accords.

The last agreement between the countries, concluded in October, called for the cessation of operations in northern Syria, as well as the creation of de-escalation zones in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo.
