She [NATO expert] expressed the opinion that Russian weapons systems, such as Avangard, Sarmat, Kinzhal, “increase the risk of escalation and misunderstanding,” while “hypersonic weapons pose new security challenges.”

In addition, she noted, the concern of members of the military-political bloc is causing an increase in Russia’s military activity in the international arena.

New missiles deployed at the European theater are mobile, easy to hide, and they can reach major European cities with short warning times. Like most Russian systems, they are dual-use, can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads, NATO expert quotes Interfax as saying.

At the same time, she emphasized that the Alliance does not intend to rush into retaliatory actions, therefore, it carefully considers options. Among Russia’s current containment measures are “the adaptation of exercises, reconnaissance and surveillance, missile defense and the improvement of conventional means.”
