The Pentagon creates new military bases in northeast Syria

WASHINGTON, (BM) – US Army Command creates new military facilities in northeast Syria to gain a foothold in the oil-bearing areas of the country, learned BulgarianMilitary.com quoting TASS and Anadolu agency.

According to his sources, the US military began to build a base in the area of ​​Tell Birak in the province of Hasek. Sources say that with the help of this base, the Americans intend to block the Russian military path to one of Syria’s main oil production centers in the Rumeylan region. Construction equipment and materials for the construction of the US Armed Forces object were transferred from Iraq.

Under another base, US forces will convert former Kurdish military installations in the south of Hasek province. This base will be used to control oil production in the province of Deir ez-Zor.

U.S. President Donald Trump at the end of October 2019 announced the withdrawal of the US military from the area of ​​the Turkish operation, but said that Washington intends to maintain control of oil fields in the north-east of the country.

General Mark Milli, chairman of the US Chiefs of Staff, later said the United States intended to maintain control of the area in Deir ez-Zor, where oil and gas facilities are located.
