PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – Your briefly report on February 5 in last twelve hours from BulgarianMilitary.com:
Iran to execute man for spying for US’ CIA
Iranian judiciary yesterday sentenced a citizen named Amir Rahimpour to death for “spying for the US’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and attempting to pass on information about Tehran’s nuclear program.”
“Amir Rahimpour who was a CIA spy and got big pay and tried to present part of Iran’s nuclear information to the American service had been tried and sentenced to death,” semi-official Fars News Agency quoted the Iranian judiciary spokesperson, Gholamhossein Esmaili, as saying. He pointed out that the sentence was upheld by the country’s Supreme Court.
“Rahimpour will see the consequences of his action soon,” Esmaili added
The official noted that another two people – who were reported to have been working for a charity – were sentenced to 10 years in prison for spying and five years in prison for acting against national security on similar charges. Esmaili did not provide any additional information about the nationality of the convicted individuals.
Libya: Haftar forces kill three civilians
Forces loyal to renegade commander Khalifa Haftar killed at least three civilians, including two children, the UN-recognized government in Libya said Wednesday.
Haftar’s militia targeted residential areas in southern Tripoli, according to forces loyal to Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA).
Four others were injured in the attacks.
Despite the Berlin Conference on Libya on Jan. 19 which called for a permanent ceasefire in the war-torn country, Haftar’s forces have continued their attacks.
Since the ouster of late ruler Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, two seats of power have emerged in Libya: one in eastern Libya supported mainly by Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and the other in Tripoli, which enjoys UN and international recognition.
IDF strikes Hamas in Gaza in response to 3 rockets fired into Israel
Israeli aircraft carried out airstrikes in Gaza in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday morning in response to three rockets that were fired into Israel from the Strip, the army said.
Israel Defense Forces aircraft attacked several targets near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to Palestinian media reports.
“A short time ago IDF warplanes attacked terror targets belonging to Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip. A site for manufacturing weapons for Hamas’s military wing was attacked. The attack was a blow to Hamas’s ability to further arm itself,” the IDF said in a statement.
“The attack was carried out in response to high altitude fire and balloon explosives from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory today,” the statement said.
At least three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel shortly after midnight, setting off rocket sirens in southern Israeli communities.
“An alarm was activated in the city of Netivot and in the area around Gaza,” the IDF said in a statement. “Following the alarm, three launches were identified from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.”
