Contrary to the fact that India previously actively criticized the American F-21 fighters, it became known that this country decided to completely unexpectedly replace the Russian Su-57, which was supposed to be used in the FGFA project, with these American combat aircraft.

“The Russian project disappointed Indian officials and senior military. So, as one of the versions, it was announced that New Delhi is dissatisfied with the level of development of Russian technologies. Allegedly, the Indians already have all the necessary technologies for the independent implementation of such programs, to pay 9 billion there’s no sense in Russia’s dollars. In April 2019, the Indian Air Force issued a request for the purchase of 114 fighter aircraft. And Vivek Lall immediately noted that it could be Lockheed Martin’s F-21s,” Voennoe Obozrenie reports.

According to a senior manager, the F-21 fighter meets all the requirements for advanced technology and capabilities in India. A single-engine multipurpose fighter with an optimal life cycle cost will be especially valuable for Indian military aviation and in that it has a very long service life of 12,000 flight hours. India can take part in the partnership program for the production of F-21 fighters, and this is also a very large market worth $ 165 billion.

There is no official confirmation of this information from New Delhi, however, if India really begins to cooperate with the United States, it is logical to assume that the country’s market for fifth-generation Russian combat aircraft will be completely lost, but, obviously, this will cause India much more damage than Russia.
