How Israel successfully destroyed a Russian Pantsyr anti-aircraft system in Syria?
TEL AVIV, (BM) – The Israeli armed forces were able to destroy one of the Pantsyr-S complexes of government troops in Syria due to the fact that the machine did not change position after the ammunition was shot, learned BulgarianMilitary.com according the chief designer for air defense systems of the Instrument Design Bureau named after Academician A.G. According to Slugin, the “Pantsyr” of the Syrian armed forces managed to hit eight targets, having spent the entire ammunition. The combat crew left the air defense system and stood nearby – waiting for a transport-loading vehicle.
“It was impossible to do this – it was necessary to immediately withdraw the combat vehicle from the position after the ammunition was shot, immediately, then everything would be fine,” Slugin told TASS.
He added as well. that the Russian Pantsyr-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems for the entire time of their combat use have shot down about a hundred unmanned aerial vehicles in various regions of the world.
“About a hundred, maybe more. This is taking into account Syria and other regions,” Slugin answered the corresponding question.
He recalled that, in particular, in Syria, there are two “Armor” groups: the Russian one at the Khmeimim airbase and the group that is operated by the Syrian army.
The designer said that certain difficulties in Syria were the struggle against artisanal drones of terrorists who repeatedly used makeshift drones for raids on the Russian Khmeimim air base.
“At first, the terrorists hung up to 10 bombs on them, due to this the drones on the radar were visible very well. Then they reduced the amount of ammunition to two and greatly reduced their speed. To learn how to beat such goals, I had to make some efforts,” said Slugin.
