US unveils X-61A drone by the Pentagon’s Gremlins program (video)
WASHINGTON, (BM) – The American company Dynetics published a video with the first flight of the X-61A drone, which is created with the support of the Pentagon as part of the Gremlins program, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, qioting Vzglyad.
The drone was launched from the Hercules transporter. The drone spent more than an hour and a half in the sky, RIA Novosti reports.
The Gremlins program involves the use of a large number of inexpensive drones operating in a swarm to mislead enemy air defense systems.
Each of the drones will receive a turbojet engine and will be able to fly at a distance of up to 1 thousand kilometers. After completing the task, the transport aircraft should catch drones in the air.
In 2018, the Pentagon has already published a video of the launch of the UAV from the Gremlins series. The newspaper VZGLYAD wrote in detail how drones will change the air battle of the future.
