Chinese analogue of Russian S-300 missile system has been delivered to Syria
DAMASCUS, (BM) – The Chinese news agency Sohu has confirmed the fact that the Syrian military has transferred the air defense and missile defense systems of the PRC, similar to the Russian S-300 air defense systems, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, according informational agency Sohu.
The systems have been handed over to the Syrian army a little over a year ago, but which have not yet participated in attacks on enemy aircraft.
“In addition to several old radars sent from Russia, a number of JY-27A phased array radars capable of detecting“ invisible fighters ”were also sent from China. In addition, there is also a three-axis long-range radar JYL-1, which is considered“ a nail in the eye ”and“ a thorn in the flesh. ”On the last day of 2019, the Syrian army deployed the Russian anti-aircraft complex Pantsir-C1 and the Chinese three-coordinate long-range radar JYL-1 at the base off the Aleppo-Khasaka M4 highway. The effective detection range of this radar reaches 320 km. The main goal is round-the-clock monitoring and the provision of accurate navigation data. In addition to this, JY-27VHF long-range surveillance radars are used in conjunction with them. In accordance with the situation announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense, a large quantity appears on the battlefield in Syria Chinese-made radars, which also exert unprecedented pressure on the US Air Force,” says Sohu.
It should be clarified that earlier there was information about the possible delivery to Syria and directly of the Chinese HQ-22 air defense systems, however, to date there is no evidence of this.
