Turkish special forces in Libya; Engine problems with Tu-22 missile carrier; India is reducing imports of missile components
PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – Your briefly report on December 18 in last six hours from BulgarianMilitary.com:
Erdogan sent special forces and military equipment to Libya
Turkey sents special forces and military equipment to Libya to support the Government of National Accord and its ally, Faiz Saraj, who settled in Tripoli.
According to Al-Arabiya TV channel, Turkish military advisers also arrived in the Libyan capital to “assess” the military situation. It is reported that simultaneously with the arrival of Turkish troops, the Turkish parliament approved an agreement on military cooperation between Turkey and the PNS, signed in late November, implying the provision of military assistance. In addition, in a number of cities in the west of Libya, under the control of the PNS, a general mobilization has been announced.
According to some Arab media, despite statements by the head of the PNS, Saraj about stopping the advance of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the situation is not in favor of the PNS. Pro-Islamist groups fighting under the flag of the PNS are getting out of Saraj’s control. Reported on the failed assassination attempt on him by militants of one of the radical groups.
An emergency is reported with the Tu-22M3 missile carrier in the Astrakhan region
An emergency situation with a long-range bomber in the Astrakhan region is reported. We are talking about the Tu-22M3 aircraft, which performed a planned flight.
According to the latest information, during the flight, the missile carrier failed the engine. The crew took the combat vehicle away from the village and decided to land a long-range bomber on the ground. The Ministry of Defense at the moment confirms information that the plane managed to land on one of the fields in the Astrakhan region.
It is emphasized that the Tu-22M3 flew without ammunition. Pilots after completing an airplane landing on the ground left the cockpit on their own. According to some reports, they do not need medical assistance. Pilots delivered to the air base.
According to unconfirmed reports, the plane made a flight from Shaikovka air base (near Kaluga) to Akhtubinsk.
A special group is being formed to find out the cause of the failure of the engine of the VKS RF supersonic missile carrier. A separate question: why regular flight was not possible when one engine failed? In particular, the possibility of using an auxiliary power plant is being discussed.
India announces systematic import substitution of BrahMos rocket components
In India announced the systematic “import substitution” (in another interpretation, “nationalization”) of the components of BrahMos supersonic missiles. This is a Russian-Indian anti-ship missile. India recently conducted another test of an updated version of the BrahMos-A air and ground-based missiles.
It is reported that the aircraft-based missile variant was tested using a Su-30MKI fighter, and the ground-based one using a launcher at the Chandipur training ground in Odish.
From the press service of the Indian Ministry of Defense: “Most of the rocket components are manufactured in India, including the rocket glider, fuel management system and sensors developed by DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization – approx. “VO”). DRDO follows the path of import substitution (nationalization) of various components and subsystems of BrahMos, including a targeting system. New components were first tested in 2018”.
