Tender’s deadline for new armored vehicles of Bulgarian Army expires today
SOFIA, (BM) – Today, December 16, 2019, the officially announced deadline for submitting the bids of the four selected companies in the competition for a new armored vehicles for Bulgarian army, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
The new combat vehicles are to replace the currently used BMP-1, MTLB, and wheeled BTR-60PB MD1 chains.
The invited companies (in alphabetical order) are: ARTEC Boxer (Germany), GDELS Mowag (Switzerland), Nexter (France) and Patria (Finland).
According to an analysis of the Bulgarian magazine for weapons and military equipment “Club Weapons”, the following teams were formed between manufacturers of base chassis and weapon systems are:
- ARTEC Boxer is likely to offer a Boxer combat machine with a Rheinmetall Lance 30 turred system;
- GDELS will present Piranha 5 combat machine with Rafael Samson 30 turred system;
- Nexter will offer VBCI 2 combat machine with John Cockerill 3030 turret system;
- Patria Land is likely to launch a Patria AMV XP combat machine with an Elbit UT30 Mk 2 turret system.
It will be known in a few days what kind of auxiliary machines the companies will offer.
Experts from the Ministry of Defense, the Defense Institute and the Army Headquarters are facing a difficult job of analyzing the bids received and assessing which two companies will continue the negotiations.
The selected two machines will undergo field tests and as a result of the full set of analyzes and evaluations a winner will be selected which the final negotiations will be held in order to sign a contract.
Hopefully, in the foreseeable future, the Bulgarian Land Forces will have a mechanized brigade armed with state-of-the-art combat and auxiliary machines.
