Putin announced the strengthening of Russia’s position in the global arms market
MOSCOW, (BM) – Russia is strengthening its position in the global arms market even in the face of increased sanctions and unfair competition, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, quoting President Vladimir Putin statement at a meeting of the commission on military-technical cooperation with foreign states.
“I note that the export of Russian arms and military equipment is growing: this year, goods worth $ 13 billion were shipped. This is more than two billion more than for the same period last year. Russian positions in the global arms market are strengthening, and this despite the strengthening of the sanctions regime and unfair competition,” Putin’s words are quoted on the Kremlin’s website.
He added that the portfolio of orders for Russian weapons is stable, now exceeds $ 50 billion.
“The high demand for domestic military products is a serious incentive to improve forms and methods of work, to maintain a leading position in this high-tech segment,” the president said.
Putin added that it is necessary to “analyze the situation in regional markets” in real time, take into account the changing needs of customers, and respond to their growing demands.
“Give priority attention to the CSTO members, the CIS and our other traditional partners, including on the African continent. They account for more than a third of Russian military equipment exports. In this context, I note the recent Russia-Africa summit. In the course of his work, it was confirmed that reliable, responsible military-technical cooperation is one of the priorities for interaction with African partners,” the Russian head of state said.
Earlier, the president asked for a roadmap for implementing the military-technical cooperation strategy, which was approved in October.
