Black Sea Fleet coastal defense troops strike enemy naval targets in Crimea drills

The personnel of Bastion and Bal coastal defense missile systems are delivering strikes against enemy naval targets in Crimea drills, the press office of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet reported on Monday.

“The personnel of the Black Sea Fleet’s Bastion and Bal anti-ship coastal defense missile systems are holding planned drills at combat training ranges in Crimea in interaction with mobile coastal naval and air reconnaissance systems to practice the skills of delivering missile strikes against surface targets while deploying from the march,” the press office said in a statement.

The teams of firing batteries are practicing deployment of their military hardware on various terrain and positions. They are sharpening the skills of performing a march, deploying their systems and changing their location and battlefield posture after delivering missile strikes, the statement says.

The exercise aims to detect surface targets, issue target acquisition data and prepare missile systems for delivering strikes against an enemy force, the press office said.

‘NATO stronger, more meaningful with Turkey’

Turkey’s national defense minister said on Monday that NATO is stronger and more meaningful with Turkey.

“NATO is stronger, more meaningful with Turkey, and questioning Turkey is meaningless,” Hulusi Akar told Anadolu Agency’s Editor’s Desk in the capital Ankara.

Akar added that when Turkey asserts its interests and rights in a NATO venue, this should not be perceived as a stance against the alliance.

“Our southern borders are also NATO’s southern borders. So protection of our southern borders is also for the security of NATO and Europe,” he added.

Israel’s real military deterrence is its missiles

A superpower’s deterrence rests on the traditional three pillars of any military: sea – underwater arsenal such as submarines, air – aerial capabilities such as drones and warplanes, and land – infantry weapons such as long-range missiles that have the ability to carry powerful warheads long distances.

This is nothing less than an insurance policy meant to ensure your enemy’s destruction before your own.

According to foreign publications, Israel is keeping its insurance policy very close to the chest – with both hands.

When former IDF chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot said recently that “Israel is an unbeatable country,” it’s safe to assume he was referring to these pillars.

One could even deduce it from the statements made the Finance Ministry, whose officials periodically weep over the swollen budget given to the Defense Ministry, because they know that the big money doesn’t go to the soldiers or officers, it goes to Israel’s insurance policy.

On December 6, the Defense Ministry announced “an experimental launch of a rocket fueled propulsion system.”

These experiments are part of routine trials to test or maintain new and various developments, but their deterrence factor is unquestionable.

The Iranians don’t need any announcements from the Defense Ministry. They can track such experiments and launches from Israel by themselves, or ask others, like the Russians, to keep tracks of such things.
