This was stated by the Head of the Republic’s Defense Industry Ismail Demir, commenting on the possibility of exclusion of Ankara from the partners of the program for the creation of the fifth-generation American fighter F-35.

“We are studying the proposal of the Russian side on the Su-35. It is too early to make any assessments. Of course, Turkey buys technology and weapons that meet its interests. However, it is too early to say that we will acquire the Su-35. We will have meticulous work and analysis,” Anadolu agency quotes Demira.

The head of the Turkish defense industry also emphasized the important role of the contract for the supply of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Turkey.

“Thanks to technology transfer and joint production, Ankara will gain the experience necessary to develop its own air defense systems,” he said.

Demir also said that “the capabilities of the S-400 divisions are not enough to ensure full protection of Turkey.” “We need more systems and are developing our own technologies. At the same time, we are ready to purchase American Patriot air defense systems on reasonable terms,” he added.
