The unannounced launch took place on November 22 and is the first test of the DF-41 since May 2018, according to a Pentagon spokesman, who requested anonymity.

According to US intelligence, the missile has already been deployed, given its appearance at a parade in Beijing on October 1.

Then a total of 16 DF-41 mobile complexes were displayed. In March, Chief of the Indo-Pacific US Armed Forces Command Admiral Philip Davidson, speaking in Congress, noted that China is still testing the latest ICD DF-41.

The three-stage solid rocket (according to NATO classification CSS-X-10) was developed by the Chinese Academy of Launch Vehicles.

It is supposed to be equipped with a detachable warhead that includes 10 to 12 self-guided nuclear units. According to various estimates, the maximum range of the DF-41 is about 14000 km.

US Department of Defense intelligence director Robert Ashley Jr. announced earlier this year that China would double the size of its nuclear arsenal.

He said it was “the fastest increase and diversification of the nuclear arsenal in China’s history.” The general noted that last year China conducted more ballistic missile tests than all countries in the world combined.
