According Russian Media, Some U.S. Bombs and UAV Being Adjusted Using AI
MOSCOW, (BM) – Recently, the US military conducted a significant experiment, in which for the first time a multi-stage fire control system was developed with a wide freedom of action of artificial intelligence (AI)*, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, quoting Topwar and Chinese portal Huanqiu.
Testing of the new system was carried out in the California Mojave Desert at the end of August this year. The main objective of the experiment was to test the ability to adjust the fire in automatic mode.
As noted, during the test in the multipurpose helicopter of the special operations forces MH-47 (created on the basis of Chinook), there was an operator who used the iPad tablet to control the GBU-69 mini-bomb. This intelligent munition, in turn, sent commands to the reconnaissance and strike UAV MQ-1C Gray Eagle, adjusting its fire. The Pentagon allegedly developed this management system for nine months.
“The American side said that the experiment demonstrated the rapid development of technology both in terms of mortality and in terms of range” indicates the publication.
As can be understood from the above, a four-stage fire control system was developed: operator – bomb – UAV – UAV ammunition. This technique has a high level of automation, since after the initial command given by a person, the AI corrects the fire independently. In addition, multi-stage can significantly increase the operational range when firing.
