PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – Your briefly report on August 13 in last twelve hours from BulgarianMilitary.com:

Blasts from Iraqi militia weapons depot kill one, injure 29

A large fire broke out on Monday at a weapons depot run by an Iraqi militia group, causing explosions heard across Baghdad, killing one person and injuring 29 others, MEMO reported.

The depot, run by a militia group under the umbrella of the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces, was located inside a federal police base in the southern suburbs of Baghdad.

The facility stored short-range and Katyusha missiles, a security source told Reuters.

The fire set off some of the rockets which struck neighbourhoods several kilometres (miles) away and injuring mainly children, said Qasim al-Attabi, a spokesman for the district’s health directorate.

Turkish forces neutralize 4 terrorists in southeast

Turkish security forces neutralized four terrorists in a counter-terrorism operation in southeastern Turkey, Anadolu Agency reported on Monday.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” in their statements, to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The armed terrorists were targeted by the Gendarmerie forces — an armed law enforcement organization — in rural areas of Yuksekova district of Hakkari province, the ministry said in a statement.

Counter-terrorism operations in this region generally target PKK terrorists.

Egypt, UAE, US Conducted Joint Exercise in Red Sea

Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States conducted in late July 2019, a joint drill aimed at bolstering regional maritime security. Saudi Arabia participated in the exercises as an observer, Israel Defense reported.

Naval and air forces from the three countries took part in the “Eagle Salute – Eagle Response 2019” exercise, which took place in Egypt’s territorial waters in the Red Sea and the port of Safaga.

The Eagle Salute drills were conducted as a part of the annual partnership training between multiple nations (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates) and are hosted annually by the Egyptian navy in the Northern Red Sea.
