The Royal Netherlands Army Received the First of Four Upgraded Patriot Air Defence Systems
AMSTERDAM, (BM) – The Royal Netherlands Army received the first of four upgraded Patriot air defence systems on 13 July, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, quoting Jane`s and according the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) statement.
The system has received a major overhaul and modifications and its lifetime has been extended to 2040, the ministry said on 15 July.
The system was overhauled and modified at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. All four Dutch Patriot systems are to be upgraded by 2022.
The first upgraded Patriot system will undergo integration tests and checks by the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation before it is returned to Royal Netherlands Army air defence troops for training at the end of July.
