U.S. and UK Will Regret, Iran Said; A Car Bomb in Syria; Russia` Strategic Bombers Destroy an Enemy
PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – Your briefly report on July 11 in last twelve hours from BulgarianMilitary.com:
Britain and U.S. will regret detaining Iran’s oil tanker – Revolutionary Guards deputy commander
Britain and the United States will regret detaining an Iranian oil tanker, a deputy commander of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards said on Thursday, Reuters reported.
Last week, British Royal Marines boarded an Iranian tanker, the Grace 1, off Gibraltar and seized it on suspicion that it was breaking EU sanctions by taking oil to Syria.
“Now an action that does not need ability but some stupidity has been carried out by them,” Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, a deputy Guards commander, said, according to Tasnim.
“The American government … and also England …. should not have taken action if they had made the smallest calculation,” he said.
“We had rented this ship and we carried the cargo. Their action was very silly and they will certainly regret it. Our reciprocal action will be announced.”
Blast causes deaths in Syria’s rebel-held Afrin
A car bomb killed 11 people and wounded many others on Thursday in Syria’s Afrin city, which Turkey-backed rebels captured from Kurdish fighters last year, Reuters reported.
The blast struck an entrance to the city, killing civilians including children, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitoring group said.
The Observatory and the medical sources said many other people had been injured in the explosion, some very badly.
Afrin lies north of Aleppo near the border with Turkey. It was held by the Kurdish YPG militia until last year when rebels seized it and the countryside around it in a Turkey-backed offensive.
Later in the afternoon, a car bomb exploded in front of a church in the northeast city of Qamishli, which the YPG controls, a witness and state news agency SANA said.
While major fighting has died down, for now, in many parts of Syria, there is still much insecurity, with bombings and other attacks targeting civilians in areas controlled by all sides in the conflict.
In June, a car bomb in Azaz, a town near Afrin also controlled by Turkey-backed rebels, killed at least 10 people when it struck in a busy marketplace on a Ramadan night.
Russia’s naval aircraft, strategic bombers destroy enemy warships in Sea of Japan drills
Naval aircraft of Russia’s Pacific Fleet and Tu-22M3 strategic missile-carrying bombers held joint drills to destroy a notional enemy’s surface ships and intercept air targets over the Sea of Japan, TASS reported according the Fleet’s press office statement on Thursday.
“During the drills, a pair of Tu-22M3 missile-carrying bombers simulated delivering a tactical strike by Kh-22 cruise missiles against a grouping of a notional enemy’s surface ships and employed passive jamming measures. In turn, two MiG-31BM fighter jets of the Pacific Fleet scrambled from the aerodrome in the outskirts of Vladivostok and successfully intercepted the bombers,” the statement reads.
An A-50 long-range radar surveillance plane was also involved in the drills.
The aircraft were redeployed from their permanent airbases to operational airfields in the Primorye Territory in the Russian Far East for the drills. The maneuvers were held in accordance with the troops’ combat training plan.
