CIA Agents Have Been Arrested For Cyber Espionage in Iran

TEHRAN, (BM) – A senior Iranian official says that Iran has recently exposed and neutralized a ”large US cyber espionage network,” learned, quoting Reuters and the state-owned radio and television broadcasting company IRIB.

The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani, said that several CIA agents had been arrested after Iran had shared intelligence information with its allies. Shamkhani said that Iran was responsible for the security in the Gulf and called on the US forces to leave the region.

“We have always said we guarantee the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,” he said. “We repeat our stance and call on US forces to finish their presence in the region as they are the main source of crisis and instability,” Shamkhani said.

The Iranian army has denied being behind the attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman last week and says if it decides to block the Strait of Hormuz, it will make it openly.
