The Super Fast Drone; Over 70 Large-Scale Russian Air Force Drills; Turkey Wins $3.2 Billion Indian Contract

PANAGYURISHTE, (BGM)Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), the state-owned aerospace technologies developer, plans to eventually develop the country’s first supersonic drone, I-HLS reported.

The “Aksungur” drone has been showcased at the International Defence Industry Fair in Istanbul. TAI claims that the Aksungur drone can reach a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour.

The company’s CEO, Temel Kotil, mentions that a superfast version of the Aksungur is to be released as well. The incredibly fast drone is set to have a maximum speed of 380 kilometers per hour and will be called the Goksungur.


Pilots and anti-aircraft gunners from the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army will hold over 70 large-scale drills in south Russia during the summer training period, Russia’s Southern Military District Spokesman Vadim Astafyev said on Monday, TASS reported.

“The combat training program for aviation units envisages over 40 tactical flight training drills while the combat teams of air defense missile troops and radar forces will conduct around 30 tactical exercises,” the spokesman said.


TAIS, founded by the owners of the top five leading shipyards of Turkey to offer expert and innovative solutions in naval shipbuilding, has received a $2.3-billion tender to build five ships for the Indian Navy, Defense Aerospace reported.

According to information released to the press, TAIS has won a cooperation tender that involves the production of five fleet support tankers of 45,000 tons.

A member of the SAHA Istanbul Defense, Aviation and Aerospace Cluster, Turkey’s largest industrial group that has undertaken important responsibilities for the country’s defense and aviation industries, TAIS will manufacture the ships in a local shipyard as part of the Indian project.
