Belgium Requested To Rearm the Bulgarian Land Forces

SOFIA (BM) – Belgium has declared that it wants to participate in the project for the modernization of our Land Forces, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

The largest Belgian company in the defence industry, John Cockerill Defense, has officially announced that it will be involved in the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence’s competition for the project implementation after the start of the tender procedure.

The company was founded 200 years ago and now it has 5,600 employees, with an annual turnover of over EUR 1 billion. John Cockerill is the only company in the world producing combat domes designed on a modular principle. This means that the combat machine can change the caliber of its gun. The time for a gun change, for example a 30 mm caliber replaced with a 40 mm caliber, is 1 hour, but a well-trained crew does it for 10 minutes.

“Our domes provide the highest quality throughout the lifecycle of the combat machines, which is from 30 to 50 years,” said Bear Midkiff, company’s Vice President for Central and Eastern Europe.
